King Enzo Palace and the great Hall of the podestà were used in the nineteen fifties for the organization of political meetings and assemblies. The Committee for Democratic Solidarity had its head quarters here; it provided free legal assistance and materials to anyone who, in the climate of repression of those Cold War years, was unfairly imprisoned for political reasons.
